Bulgaria – one step closer to Schengen
The European Parliament insists that the EU ministers must admit Bulgaria and Romania to the Schengen area without border control as quickly as possible.
MEPs urged EU Ministers to make a swift and firm decision on the accession of Bulgaria and Romania as full members of the Schengen area. The non-legislative report was adopted with vast majority of the votes.
The Council of the EU is due to take a decision immediately to abolish checks on the internal land, sea and air borders of Bulgaria and Romania.
